My bike is usually riddled with electrical issues, and it still is because amidst working on why it isn't charging it now won't start (kick or otherwise), but anyway, I have a question about what my mechanic suggested that I do as a result of this. He said the following:

"If the motorcycle sat for a couple of weeks, it may have clogged up the slow-jet circuit. On your motorcycle, I believe the slow-jets are all located in the float bowls, so if you remove those, you should be able to clean them out."

I am new to all this, so while this may seem very basic to most of you, I don't get it. Is what he is saying that I should remove and take apart and clean the carbs? I found the guides for doing this linked in other posts, so I think I can do it.

Any advice would be appreciated.

you don't say which carb(s) you have the 38's or the 34's bu hey are very similar, the slow je is located in the bowl on both just draws its fuel differently

On my bike, if the slow jet is the pilot jet, it is under a passage which has a rubber plug on it. I got one out no problem but the other was tough and I chipped the passage a little, doesn't affect performance but if it is the 1st time cleaning and rebuilding I suggest taking them off the bike 1st thing. Keep the 2 together when you work on them. When I was a newbie I separated the carbs and broke the casting where the ball and spring hold the choke rod open.
