So, I'm building a 74 xs650 hartail. I got the old softtail off and the hardtail welded on, but I'm kind of scratching my head as to where to go from here. I searched and searched for any kind of tutorial on how to finish out a commercial hardtail, but to no avail. I bet I can figure out a few simple things, but I'd rather not screw up things like brakes and fender. Any help would be awsome.

Use your imagination and git r done. Fit the wheel and chain, make a fender and some struts, somewhere to mount your seat to, get a rear brake set up, do your electrics..etc, etc, etc. Just remember it's fun...right? Oh, but first clean up your garage. You need a clean work space to work properly.

Ya know, at first when I read your post I though "Wow, that wasn't much help". But then it got to sitting in the garage, staring at my bike, and ya know what, you're right! I now have the seat on, back brakes kind of figured out, and I'm on to the electrical. I gotta say, this whole custom ratrod thing is really fun. I just kind of eyeball where stuff should go and just weld my heart out. Sometimes it just takes someone elses perspective to make you think outside the box. Thanks.

Once you start into it things just kinda happen, and next thing ya know you are riding it.
