hey guys, I got a 82' xs650sj and I'm about to start on my bike project. i want to bob it with the weld on hard tail from TC bros and completely rebuild the bike, and the one thing that has me pretty nervous is the wireing harness. is it best to make my own or world a stock harness from mikesxs.com work?

I built my own harness. Not hard to do. There are many good diagrams floating around, read through the electrical threads. Pick one that matches the reg/rec and ignition you have.

stock harness is great if your keepin it stock, if your choppin id just start fresh and make one.
If you just google xs650 wiring diagram using IMAGE tab. youll pull up several.

ok, ive found a couple so far and a few i really like but they say to use an electric ignition unit, what year did the xs start using electric ignition.
i have a stock 82 xs650sj and it runs fine. so if it is electric ignition its just a matter of looking at the wiring and making a new system.
