Can any of you fine people tell me when the xs switched to a single petcock? I have a new gas cap that seems to fit my '76 but not the later model. I assume it is the original paint on the tank and it's a dark burgundy brownish color with no stripes. I am looking to find a cap to fit the later model tank. Thanks guys.

- from memory the specials, smaller tank, had 1 petcock 1980-'84
- the 447 model with the larger tank had 2 petcocks through to '84

76-79 Standard tank has 2 petcocks and the cap looks the same as the Specials but wont fit the Special teardrop tank..........78/79 Specials have the twin petcocks and the 80 on have one, the same cap fits all Special tanks

78 and on Specials
Go into the Vault, look up "Manual -Parts list" for the part no and check out xsjohns suggestion for other tanks that may have the same cap

Checked Mike's XS and he sells (2) different caps. Seems the standard and the special caps will not line up with each other's monting screws by about 1/8". Going with the special model since I'm pretty sure that's the tank I'm working with. Thank you again for the replys and the interest, fellas.
