Hey guys quick question. I have a 79 special with front and rear disc brakes and mag wheels. I want to switch the wheels out to wire wheels. Prob just the 16" in the back and 19 up front. Outside of the wheels (obviously) What Else do I have to look for to switch to a wire wheel?
thanks in advance.

Ok I guess I should rephrase my question.... Now that I have a little more info (i'm a noob and this is my first build). Ok so now I know that yamaha doesnt make a wire wheel disk break set up for the rear. So....Would it be better/easier to accomplish what I'm attempting (wire wheel front and rear) to just switch the rear wheel to a drum break? how difficult is the process? the bike will be hardtailed.

If your hard tailing it then using a drum brake will be an easy set up.
ount your wheel. Using the brake stay, figure where the mount needs to be and weld a mount to the frame. Using the stock brake pivot and tube cut from your stock frame, can be welded to the frame where ever it needs to be. then hooking in your brake pedal to the pivot shaft will be how ever you think looks good.
Looking at the pics in the gallery will give you the idea.

Who was it looking for a 16" drum brake cast rear wheel??? There's one with wheel, axle & spacers newly listed on ebay. Pretty dirty and cruddy but would appear to be able to clean up OK. Don't see them come up too often.

Good luck who ever it was.....hope you notice this. Blue
