I had my speedo apart to loctite the face plate screws after the the face plate came loose and rotated 90 degrees on a shakedown ride recently. I thought it would be great if someone made aftermarket stick on face plates to restore our sometimes crack and faded ones.
Now mine aren't bad but I have seen some pretty rough ones. Even if the oems one still work , some of them look like hell. I get this newsletter in my email because I subscribe to this magazine.
otorcycle classics mag. They had an article on the resto of the gauges of a CB500 they are cafeing?
www.motorcycleclassics...lates.aspx
Anyway they mention this CB750cafe site that sells new faceplate decals for cb750 Hondas and I wondered if he could do it for XS650s. So I sent him an email and his response was
"I can make your faces, if you send me yours to calibrate. But about $65.00"
So if you want to try to salvage your stock gauges here is an option. A link to the ones he does for the CB750 Honds.
And some info on opening up the gauges...some might apply to ours. He has lots of cool cafe stuff that I'll bet some of which could be used on XSs. John
