Why don't you just cut out the sides with a template and weld them on the opposite sides. While you have them out fix the dent and do a hammered look if that's what you want.

bigjimmy: my dear sir. you have greatly overestimated my skills. for shame!!!

seriously though. im probably going to skip dishing the tank for now.
think perhaps better course would be to finish up the fab work in the rear fender area. and start the mechanical bits, wiring and plumbing, to make sure i cant still start this thing.

can always re-address the tank later.

That's a good plan, toe. And once you have her running, you will find even more motivation to do the tank the way you want.

no updates at the moment.
but i did christmas myself a few parts, from mikesxs, set to arrive on thursday.
work should be quiet enough (read: not sending me away from home/ bike) for me to get back to work on what matters.

my shiny shiny bike.

list of fixes/ corrections/ alterations.

- must make plates to permanently set footpeg angles
- must find permanent home for rear brake reservoir.
- must run brake lines.
- finish turnouts for exhaust pipes.
- all electrical lines run including switches that as of yet have no home.
- run fuel lines that as of yet have no petcocks...heh petcocks....
- not sure about rear fender and fender mounts. re-evalute whether or not to have fender. maybe just cut it a bit shorter.
- gauges
- start motor
- send motor out for tuning.
- clean all crappy weld to make better looking.
- needs chain
- paint.
- polish metal bits.
- restart motor.
- tell all that laughed at the project to "suck it"

off the top of my head. not sure what else i am forgetting but im sure ill remember , possibly while swearing... on thursday.
being away from it for a few weeks makes the mind cranky and slow.

i really want to get this one finished up so i can start up a new one with some proper knowledge. have thoughts on next one...

ah the joys of learning things =)
