Got a bad feeling my mainshaft bearing might be worn - Ive got a transmission whine when the bikes warmed-up (after approx 5 miles) , lessens slightly if not loaded (clutch pulled in )..Any one else have/had this?
Really cant be arsed to strip her down )again) just yet...

Oh,Oh xs1961, next thing you know, you'll find yourself at the local motorcycle dealer, looking at one of those "modern" bikes, with huge number of valves, multiple camshafts, fuel injection and computer controlled ignition..............and even worse it may be water cooled. Shocked

Fight the erg to go over to the dark side Smile

..Mmm..It'll never happen RG but the funny thing is Ive not ridden my XS for a month due to the fact Ive been riding the Sachs Embarassed , which is extremely mechanically quiet, not sure if Ive just got used to not hearing XS clatter !
Probably the the longest period of time in the last 30 years that I havent slung a leg over an XS, but Im still pretty certain Im hearing something odd..
Heres hoping its just cam bearings, not bearing failure down below showing itself when the oils thinned-out.. Rolling Eyes
