hey fella's, i'm fairly new to the site. started my cafe build about 2 months ago. I need to post some pics.

I have a couple of questions. does anyone know where I can locate an aftermarket throttle grip that will accept the stock cables. I want to get rid if the kill switch and relocate it off the housing.

also I have the OMARSDTR cafe fender. what are my tailight option. I'm getting rid of the rear fender and I shortened the rear hoop by 3 inches.
(long story)

any help would be great. Pics to follow soon

here is the day I got the bike.

getting the frame ready for powdercoat

getting other parts ready for powdercoat

starting to rebuild the front end.

gotta love seals from mikesxs... they are a .5mm too big...

so this is where i'm at. I had the wheel guy at work paint my front wheel. came out great. I powdercoated the rotor and install all new SS hardware from ACE. more pics to follow on the front end.

When you say the seals are 0.5mm to big, you mean overall diameter?

yes, they didn't fit my 34mm shocks. I ordered 2 pairs and they where both too big. I contacted MM@650central for the triple lip seals. those dropped right in.

it's hard to see in this pic but the mic doesn't lie. the little red needle should be on 0 and it's not.

I even lubed the seal and cleaned the shock tube with emory paper. it wouldn't go in with assistance from a 5-ton press. so my freshly powdercoated fork tube is s*** now

Your fork tubes are 34mm. Fork seals are Ars (OEM Yamaha Genuine ). What part number did you order ? ?

part number is 27-1016, ordered 2 sets. both sets gave me trouble. I had to order a whole new front end from ebay and got the all balls seals.

some more updates. the wheel guy at work painted my front wheel. (for free) I left the side of the rim unpainted and tommorow they will recieve a high gloss polish.

polished some bits for the front wheel assembly.

got my cafe fender from omars... still waiting on the cushion. ( been 2 weeks)

hand built cafe tail that I decided not to use, (it's forsale if someone wants it)

will post more pics as progess continues. still need to figure out a tailight with this cafe fender and an aftermarket throttle setup

Looks like you're going to have a bunch of '75 parts in great condition for sale, that bike looked pretty good. Bummer about the forks, hopefully the rest of the build goes smoother for you.

well the paint is a 2-part wheel paint that the alloy wheel repair guy uses here at the dealership to repair curbed wheel. stuff is super hard and will not chip, flake or fade.

What year did they stop mounting the front brake caliper on top/front of the forks, like in this photo?

ine(1975) is on the bottom. Does it really matter?

75 was the last yr for the caliper upfront. since my fork tubes got destroyed I bought a front end from a 76. the caliper is now is the rear. just had to swap the 2 mounting bolts.

What a shame to take a bike like that and oh well. I would have sold that bike taken the proceeds and bought 2 more bikes one to chop and one to cafe.

By any chance, do you still have the original seat available? If so, how much would you sell it for?

Thanks!
