So I finished installing the needle bearing on the swingarm yesterday, and decided to see how the shocks looked on the bike. When I threw them on, I noticed that the top mount was a little too long, as before there was a huge grab rail. Can I just cut some of it off? Spacers? What have you guys done?

Here's a reference picture from my cell. Thanks.

I just cut a little off of the studs. Be careful you don't bugger up the threads. I put a nut on the stud, then cut, then backed the nut off to clean up the threads.

Looks like he's going to run out of thread anyway??????

Up to you, chop it & cut some new thread.......Makes it hard to go back. What shocks are those?

Spacers would work ok, probably look a bit crappy though!

the cap in the picture is screwed it as far as it will go, there seems to be enough thread left, I don't think I'll run out. hopefully.

I picked up some NOS Redwing shocks, I haven't tried them out yet. Do you think I'll need to replace the oil? They are from the 70's.

It looks like the portion beetween the acorn nut and shock isn't threaded , it looks like your out of threads right at that point. Am i seeing it correct?

Spacer or large washers, if you cut it you can't go back.
