Fork tubes are 33mm on the XS-360/400 so they won't fit in the XS-650 trees. They might also be shorter..

Can't swap the trees because the 650 stem is a little longer.

You might look at the 82-83 XS-400 Seca/Maxium. They had 35mm forks. but I have no clue on the width or stem length.

Why do people like lets say the Fong Bros run xs350/xs400 front ends on the xs650 bikes they build. They are changine the stem out on them so I know how they do the swap but what is the reason or advantage of doing so?????

Improved handling!!... Smile maybe not.

Looks skinnier and has a drum brake.

There is definately something different about it. I seen one of the Fong Bros bike which is why i brought this up. Less bulky looking? I went with a KD175 front instead.

I have an xs400 and was thinking of using the front end it has a regular disc front wheel but doesnt matter I'll be using my original spoke wheel that has disc but I use no front brake so you think it's just less bulky huh

The reason the Fong Bros use the 360/400 front end is because we like the vintage look of drum brakes, but not the futuristic cost of an xs1 drum. Also, the shorter fork legs lower the front end. When we don't run front brakes, we stick with the stock forks.

So just how do you incorporate the 360/400 front end? Does it just bolt on? (Someone said earlier that the stem is shorter...)I too like the drum look, and have a xs400 front end I would like to use.

Check in the Vault under "Axle diameters & steering bearings, fork diameters". will give you the info you ask.
