MikesXS has performance rotors for $130 a piece, and although thats not absurd, I would just like to use OEM replacements if possible....but I cannot find anything anywhere!! I've looked online, I've called shops...nothing.

Is it common practice to turn motorcycle rotors? Or is it a replace on sight kinda thing?

I did that and they are all used rotors........I guess maybe you simply cannot buy new OEM rotors for these?

I had mine rebuilt by Tim Parrott in Alabama. I found him on eBay under XS650 rotor. He was asking $79 (I think) for it, but had a :make offer" option. I offered $50 and he accepted. With shipping it ran about $65 and it works great.

krunk, Like drifter, I had my rotor rebuilt by Tim Perrott. It was last year and it is working good. Here is the contact information from when I bought it:

I don't understand...how do you "rebuild" a rotor? Do you mean turned? As in resurfaced?

@gs1327:

Is that a front or rear? Or are they the same??

Are you talking about brake rotors or alternator rotors. There seems to be some confusion.

Krunk- I dunno- I was just posting a link for the item BigGeorge was describing. My bike is a drum rear so I never looked into it.

Krunk, a bike rotor can be turned, as long as the finished product is at least the minimum specs given in the owners or service manual. I've had bike rotors turned with no problems. Most bike dealers have the machine to turn them, if not, many places like Midas can do it.
