Very nice work, you've really spent some time on it and it shows, devil is in the details for sure. Glad to see you kept the old guages and damper. I actually like the dulled down look to that tank, but I prefer alloy bits that have aged a bit after polishing anyway. I think it will look right once you start getting somes miles on the bike. Is the clear coat a powder as well?

Finally back to work on the bike, and making good progress. Got my tank mount welded up, and the tank on. Also welded a cross piece to the frame to hold my new seat on. I have been trying to keep everything on the frame as original as possible, but this was the end of the road for that LOL. I cut and bent a piece of aluminum plate to use as a seat pan, and used some rubber bumpers between that and the frame. Looks very clean, and is rock solid once mounted.

Sorry for the crappy pics, rained all day yesterday Sad Will get some better ones after I bend up a new battery box cover

The end is in sight!!! Spent accouple hours on the cafe bike yesterday. Modified and mounted an XS650 special fender in under the seat to keep s*** outta the battery box and carbs. Also cut up some sheet metal and built a cover for the battery box and other electronics. Not my best work ever, but was my first attempt at making something outta sheet metal. It will do the job for now. Can always make another one down the road! Taking the seat pan and my battery cover to a buddies shop this week, and I am going to powder coat them. Going to try and get the sidecovers polished up this week also, and the mastercylinder finished too. The end is near!

have not started it yet. Hope to have it running this coming weekend...if time allows. Need to get my pamco installed, cam chain tightened, valves adjusted, case covers polished, and new cables installed. Should only take 20 - 30 minutes LOL

Decided to get an actual taillight/brakelight to run...instead of the red bullet signals. Got it from SportingForLess on ebay. Looks decent for $22.50. Also decided to get a set of Napoleon mirrors from him. I powdercoated my seatpan and battery cover last thursday, and they turned out awesome! Haven't had a chance to take any pictures, but they are wet black, and you can see your reflection in them!

So I ended up switching directions a bit. the seat I ordered just didn't fit well with the older XS frame, but I found one that did and ordered it thru clubmanracing.com. It is the old Manx style of seat. Tim's XS/2 project gave me the idea for it. I like the looks and think it will look nice with the 750 tank.

Yep, very nice. I would like one of those too, but I think I'll keep the rear fender as it is so I'll probably need a shorter seat with a slight upsweep at the hump so it won't interfere with rear fender and frame. Any suggestions what seat might fit ?

Nothing mass produced. Sorry. On a positive note, I got all of my wiring hooked back up, and my new taillight installed...and everything worked first try!

Well, It's rideable again!! Still need to install my Pamco ignition and make up plates to mount my rear sets....but I couldn't wait any longer to try riding it. Sounds badass with those shorty reverse cones. the video was taken before I dialed the carbs in. Now it pulls strong with no backfire

Here is a link to a video of it running

Looking good TX, been watching your build on Do The Ton. I like the tail light, was thinking of doing the same setup. Can you give me tips on installing the unit? Email me at cycleryder02 @ aol.com. Still trying to get my seat ironed out but my XS650 is running great.
