Hi I run a 840 for sidecar motocross, and have seen in Europe several single carb manifolds with a 40 mm dellorto.Anyone had experiance of these?I have a 41 kehlin flatslide that I am considering fitting. The manifold is made by Willie Appers in Holland.

The Keihin F/S will have less air drag through the venturi and bottom of slide in comparison to the Dellorto. The Dellorto's are a good carburetor of their time but when your talking sizes of 40 and up mms, velocity through the venturi is the key for quicker throttle response and a smoother power band over the entire RPM spectrum. Comparing a round slide to a flatslide is like comparing apples to oranges. Even if the Dellortos had a slight edge in peak HP,you need to look at the ease of tuning and advantages of increased air flow of a modern FlatSlide. On a naturally aspirated motor, adding a properly matched F/S to displacemnt,is like adding a small blower, they're that GOOD!

Looks alot like the manifold from a Triumph. They ran good for many years.
