I have an 83 Heritage and when i put down the side kickstand with the bike in neutral the engine quits. Without involving lawyers, how can the switch be defeated? Or what should I look at to fix it? ... |

I took the cover off and pulled the brushes. One is 1/4 inch the other (inner loop) is 1/8. So now I need to get brushes for sure. I am attaching a photo. What is the item at the top of the stator ... |

I am sure the brushes have to be removed with the engine off, but do make the other measurements with the engine running? I haven't even taken the cover off of the stator yet so I am looking at anoth ... |

Yes I checked the voltage at the battery when it was running and it was still 10.5.
i forgot to mention that the headlight was not on when I was running the engine.

While I am sure that there are bearings available, due to the limited amount of travel that the pivot encounters a bushing would be best suited here.

I had the same problem with my 83. It changed when i replaced the spark plug caps. Check the resistance. Ya might want to double check your carb clean up for blockage. Good luck. |

Well I was able to unscrew the caps and they tested out at 10K Ohms, yea. I ordered a pair from Mikes. I though what the heck I will call the yamaha dealer. Get this. $22 each!

Actually earlier I had a post about the engine cutting off when i put it into gear, I cleaned out the throwout gear, which needed to be done anyway, and it went away. I will do this and see what happ ... |
