It replaces the banjo bolt that connects the brake line to the master cylinder. It is simply a banjo bolt with a built in brake switch.

Ooops I did forget the year. It is an 82 with electronic ignition. Bike had sat for years in a garage and I went through the carbs and cleaned with spray cleaner and used new seals and gaskets.
