I would say it was more like 1/8th of an inch or so I was just venting my electric start turns over now but rarely starts the bike so a couple hours of kicking had me to the breaking point

so loosening the larger (A) screws in the diagram will loosen the back plate correct?

look for an air leak for the free revving but check your voltage for the "crapping" out just went through that with my bike battery was low and the battery terminals were loose

Well it was the battery I do not believe that I need to load test because after the charge I was testin the charge and found that the positive and neg connections were both loose it charges 13 at 1500 ...

I am having similar problems. Idle is fine when I open the throttle it dies or I have to feather it to get it past 1500 and then will run well. Sound like points to you?
