| ok, i was going to replace the sump filter with mikesxs modified one. but the parts guy said to clean the side filter, but that flew up a red flag, so i thought id ask. |

| ok, there was fuel sitting in them for a while but when i took the carbs appart they were pretty clean inside, but being a newbie to carbs and all that i'll take your word for it and check them out. b ... |

| XSJOHN- i removed the air/fuel screw, the diaphram and needle, the main jets and the float system. are you talking about the guide that the needle slides into? cuz when i took the diaphams out i spray ... |

so i cleaned the carbs out with break clean. (i dont have an air compressor) put em back on, and about 8 kicks later and one final use of starting fluid it now starts 
now ive got to do the next ... |

ok, that makes sense. the 82 does have a sidestand switch but like you said i dont see it having any problem affecting the system.

i just finished a rebuild and rewired the bike using the stock diagram. i only wired what was necessary to make the bike start up and run, and what do ya know... it wont.
