They were Tan plus it ran better than ever before.

CHeck too see if one or both of your coils are hot. If so your points are closed to one side or the other causing a drain on the battery and if it contiues they will eventually weld themself shut.

I'm having somewhat the same problem and it's a jetting problem with my carbs my left is getting too wet and fouling out plugs.

I took the carbs back off the bike and found looking at the old jets they were already 135. So whoever had them before me had already moved them up from 130. I guess m ...

What does the idel mixture screw do.?
add air or add fuel? I'm pretty mechanically inclined but dont't have a diagram of the carb that explaines all this.

If you have vaccuum carbs I'd check that first if not make sure your getting gas to that side

Any sugestions on setting up the eailier carbs from a 73-74.I'm running K&N filters with a 2in 1 and stock carbs. It seems to bog down when i hit the throttle but then takes off like a scalded dog.

I was having the grinding problem and just bent the spring alittle and it gave it the extra valasity it needed to throw the gear all the way in place.
With that being said it goes in the slot.
