Hi question for someone out there. I'm taking the key ignition out of my bike and want to put in just a switch. I have the switch and it has two wires. Do i hook up the brown red blue wires to one wire then just ground the other wire that on the switch? Or is the brown or blue wire are ground?

murdercycle,

It would help if we knew what year / model XS650 you have because a lot of the electrical stuff is different from year to year.

The following is for 1977 to 1983 models.

The red wire is battery, hot all the time. The brown wire feeds everything except the tail light, the blue feeds the tail light.

So, the red wire goes to one contact on your switch, the brown and blue are connected together to the other contact.
