Hey guys, I need to pull the left side cover off of my 76 and look at the chain and sprocket.
Is there a gasket under there I will need to replace? Will it loose all of the oil?
there is a noise when I move the bike around. I suspect the front sprocket it worn out but I can't see it.
Anything else I should inspect while in there?

No, there should be no oil behind that cover. Though sometimes there is due to leaking seals. One of the more common ones to leak is the countershaft sprocket seal. This can be fixed just by tightening up the nut on the sprocket.

Be prepared for a long cleaning session when you get that cover off. Can get pretty gungey under there!

Sometimes the ball can fall out of the clutch actuator when cover is removed. You should clean & lube actuator while your there.

Go to the vault section & there's a couple of manuals there, if you don't have one! Cheers
