Could someone please explain to me how to mount new hardware, knob spring set up, to my freshly painted side covers? When I bought the bike the side covers were not mounted and they did not have the hardware. I do have a manuel and have looked on the websites to no avail. Thanks for any help. TC

Need a pair of pliers and some silicon lube.
On the end of the push nob is a flat washer held on by a pin going through the shaft.
depress the spring and griping the shaft and one end of the retaining pin close the pliers and the pin will be pushed flush with the shaft. I then used the pliers gripping the pin, (not to hard as you might crush the pin) and levering against the washer removed the pin.
On the rubber bush remove the steel insert then spray some silicon spray and install into the sidecover then replace the steel insert.
now the fun part where you try not to scratch the paint
holding the cover, push down on the shaft, (I used the arm of an old wooden director chair), through the rubber bush, install the retaining washer and pin
