Couldn't forsake the bike forever you know!

Have decided on some new plans. Same bike, different build.

Time to freshen up the motor and give the bike a new look.

Here is my starting point:

Stock displacement, boyer ignition, flatslide mikuni 36mm, maxi x pipes.

Plan for big bore, extreme cam, new rods, and a rebuilding of the bottom end.

Boy have things changed since you left. Welcome back and I hope some front braking is included in your plans.

Welcome back tt. will be good to have a fresh take on things.

I am on a safety kick at present and reiterate kingwj statment about the front brake.

From the Hurt report, by John Hurt.

26. Motorcycle riders in these accidents showed significant collision avoidance problems. Most riders would overbrake and skid the rear wheel, and underbrake the front wheel greatly reducing collision avoidance deceleration. The ability to countersteer and swerve was essentially absent.

27. The typical motorcycle accident allows the motorcyclist just less than 2 seconds to complete all collision avoidance action.

34. Motorcycle modifications such as those associated with the semi-chopper or cafe racer are definitely overrepresented in accidents.

TT
nice to see your smiling face again. Skull statistics suck. Probably drawn up by some yahoo that does not like bikes, bikers, nor chicks. I say build them ride them, rebuild them, beat them and enjoy them. Brakes or no brakes. We have a "safety director" at work. Know how he got his job? He got hurt and could not do his truck driving job. So they gave him a title so not to have to pay out a law sute. Now he thinks he is just the perfect athority on safty. I told him where do you get off, Your the moron who didnt set your parking brake, and ran yourself over. I havent been hurt at work. Just look what this hurt guy is saying! over brake the rear wheel, underbrake the front! What is that crap first time riders. What about countersteering? Thats a natural instinct unless your a complete moron. And then lets pick out a partucular type bike to be over represented. Mayby we dont partucularly like cafe racers cause we are harley people so lets pick on cafe racers. well for one there are very few cafe racers on the road today. Yes there are many superbikes out there but they are hardly cafe racers. You know I would bet this hurt dude would find out it is just as dangerous to have sex today as it is to ride a motorcycle. He would still be wrong. Having sex today is alot more dangerous then riding a motorcycle. So what are we to do? stop having sex? heaven forbid, stop riding motorcycles? f__k that I am only going to live once and beleive me Hurts statistics wont stop me now or ever....

Thanks. Front brake? Little more than dead weight, old friend.:)

Thanks to all for the warm welcome back. Not even sure how I'm gonna do this one up this time around. Just had a wild thought for a minute and started thinking too much.

I just want something that goes really really fast without sacrificing my own personal brand of coolness while doing it. And XSJohn, just cause I said "coolness" doesn't mean you should get on my case about an oil cooler yet....lol

welcome back tt, been quite a while!

Some improvements for the better, I hope would include the vault section!
Basicly a read only section where we've put in some of the better mods/posts ect. Should you find anything you think should be preserved in the vault, just let 650skull, weekendrider or myself know & we can put it in there!

Here's mud in yer eye, cheers

Yeah, I'll be doing some digging in there shortly. The site seems to be every bit as it was so somebody must be doing something right.

Will do.

I think we ought to have another bike build off. I've got some seriously cool ideas for something right yet, but hate to spill the beans. Anyone else game over the next 12 months?

count me in tt. Im up to it. I have enough stuff on hand to do something tottaly differant this time around. I think that there should be a class for uneaqueness. We have seen thousands of choppers, bobbers, cafe racers, etc. Wonder if we could come up with something so tottaly differant that folks would say. (I never seen that before, on a 650.)

I have an idea, just no money...lol

And yeah, the idea is pretty unique even though it will be a mostly stock (chop the junk of course) frame. I just don't want to spill the beans and lose the contest before it's begun.:)
