I am taking apart my carb for the first time to clean it and want to remove the main jet and pilot jet. the main is not unscrewing easily and when I apply some force, the metal starts to strip. Suggestions?

Also, once all apart what is the best product and way to clean the part? Soak in something? Cheers.

You need to have a screwdriver that exactly fits. I have a couple of cheap but hollow ground screwdriver bits that worked for me. A shot of PB Blaster has never failed to loosen any stuck part, for me. For cleaning, just shoot carb cleaner through them using the straw that comes taped to the can. If you want the brass to look like new, boil the jets in lemon juice for a few minutes.

If you aren't going to be able to get them out, clean them in place using carb cleaner; it's probably sufficient, especially the main (!).

P.S. Also, if your mix screws are still capped off, I'd just leave them that way. Mine are, and I'm very happy that it prevents me from adjusting my mixture screws Wink

Thank you Jayel and xjwmx. I appreciate it: the metal is braeking so if no movement post-PB Blaster. Cheers.
