Guys -
I took the '73 out on Sunday again for about a half hour. Really ran nicely, imho. And the best part is... no drips that I can see. I have to grow a pair and wipe around down around the sidestand and such... but I'm really optimistic about having addressed my oil seeping with that Mike's valve. Fingers crossed.
Now that I seem to be getting past the "have to's" and moving toward the "want to's", my rear shocks look fine, but I really can't be sure about how well they're working. The gas shocks at Mike's look neat, but have a different eye size. Will they fit on a '73, and if not, why not?
Thanks!
TC

TeeCat , I though mine were at least ok, until I went out on a 100 mile ride across quite a variety of county roads. Bumps were frequent and even though the old XS has a couch seat compared to my Ninja, I'm pretty sure my shocks are the original. I weigh 175 and I felt some of those bumps terribly. I'm looking at some too but I'm still in the "have to" mode.

pumps, I hear ya. Mine are clean, but I don't have anything to compare them to in terms of function. But the bike's ride is stiff. Wouldn't call her a backbreaker, though.
Gas shocks might fit your '77 straight up. I'm concerned about overall length and eyelet size on mine.

I'm looking to lower my bike...short guy, you know? I'd like to be flatfooted.

Are you still running the stock seat on your Ninja? My butt gets pretty sore after 45 minutes in the saddle. Wondered if you had the same problem. I was thinking of getting a sheepskin pad or something.

Nope, I'm running Mike's cafe seat (scroll down). The bike is actually really comfortable.

I think you misread my question.
Are you still running the stock seat on your Ninja?
