I beg your pardon if this question is posted to the wrong forum.

I have a 71. I just set the valve timing with the cam chain adjustment and it now starts but dies very quickly after running for a few seconds very roughly/ It dies also, the moment I give it some gas. It runs stronger after I take the choke off but dies immediately after gas.

What should I test? I put the spark plug against the engine and there is some spark when I kick.

If the cam chain adjuster was loose when the ignition timing was set, then when you adjusted the chain right it threw the timing off. You should always set the cam chain tension before you set the timing.
I would reset the timing now that the chain is set right. Checking the valve adjustments wouldn't hurt either.

Thanks. I did set the valves after the cam chain adjustment though.
