I have been helping a friend get his Honda CL450 back together.
The Clymer book doesn't tell what the air screws should be set to. It just says to adjust them for best idle.
How many turns out should we start with? I have them set at 1 1/2 turns out right now.
We didn't try starting it yet. His gas tank is shot. I put together a test tank. The tank is from a riding lawn mower with a shut off and a tee fitting. We will try to start it this week end.
I found that the carbs have a plug that screws out just over the 3 tiny holes in the venturi by the throttle plates. Makes it real easy to clean them little buggers. You can see right through them with the plug out.

the little plug is a carb balancer plug if you have the fittings, set the air idle the same way as you do a XS using dead cylinder method, I've got a CL450 and a CL350 a lot of your XS knowledge will tranfer over, if you need any tech info just ask, 1 1/2 is a good starting spot

Thanks for the reply. I have found a few similarities, and a few differences. The way they used torsion bars on the valves is quite unusual.
When putting the engine back together, figuring out the cams and how to put them back in the head was an interesting experience.
I thought that the 1 1/2 turns should get it to start.
