just finished installing the new iggy system with the green monster but i can not get the bike to start.

it cranks but will not fire

i connected the green from the pamco to the green on the coil (put mine on the bottom), connected red from pamco to one of the previous red white that a coil was on and then connected the red from coil to the red whit from previous coil, also grounded out the black wire to frame

if this sounds correct is there anything else I may have missed or forgot

thanks for all your help

bkmarsha,

Well, was the bike runing before you installed the PAMCO ?

Check that you have +12 in both red / white wires with the ignition switch and kill switch on. If so, then try this to allow you to test for spark withour having to crank the engine:

1. Remove the PAMCO rotor.
2. Remove the locating pin in the advance rod.
3. Replace the PAMCO rotor without the locating pin.
4. Replace the nut holding the rotor on loosely. This will allow you to rotate the rotor by hand to produce a spark.
5. Connect a grounded spark plug to one of the spark plug wires. Leave the other wire connected to the plug in the engine.
6. Turn on the ignition and kill switch.
7. Rotate the PAMCO rotor by hand and look for a spark in the gap of the grounded spark plug.
8. Turn off the ignition.

bkmarsha,

Did you try the procedure I outlined above? If you get spark with that test, then it's not the ignition.

If you have the gas tank off while you are doing these tests, then you have to block the vacuum barbs or else the mixture will be too lean for the engine to start.

i was not able to get a spark with the listed steps i feel that i may also have a short in a wire somewhere because i found that i blew a fuse after replacign that i still was unable to get a spark

i am hoping to work on it more the begining of this next week
