I do think it's time manufacturers quit pretending that electronic ignitions are expensive to produce. Being more realistically priced, the Pamco product is better than the Boyer in that respect at least, and is probably more durable to boot. Given the price of microchips these days, if Boyer can't produce an electronic ignition that will retail for less than even the Pamco product, the Boyer people should shop for some better engineers.

Another thing that's grossly overpriced is ignition coils. I mean how old is that technology? If by now they can't produce something such as Mike's "green monster" gizmo that retails for less than $20, they ought to hang it up and confess to being thieves.

We all should be thankful we have people like mikesxs and Pamcopete. Mike has to try and get his smaller production runs scheduled by the same manufacturters that produce huge amounts for the OEM guys. His prices are fair.
Pamcopete is giving us innovative products that the average biker can afford, and first rate customer service.

If you want sticker shock just go to the local Yamaha dealer to order parts.

The local motorcycle dealers here in Calgary charge crazy prices for things like tires. I asked their price for Dunlop tires @ $130 each, so bought them over the web for $65.

You notice that $135 each is exactly $65 X 2. That tells me the dealers get their tires on the web from the same place you got yours. They pay $65 for the same tire and you pay them their $65 + 100% markup. Nice guys aren't they?

Bought my tires from Cruisercustomizing.com. They buy from the wholesaler "Parts Unlimited".

Local dealers around Calgary are getting at least 100% mark-up, and they do a large amount of business. Lots of people just don't shop around for a good price. Shocked

I have installed a Dyna set up before on an old KZ650 I had and it was not as expensive as a Boyer but it DID make a huge difference. I've no experience with and no practical knowledge of a Boyer but I might have purchased one or some set up eventually but the cost would have made it a really big purchase. I've not had the best of luck fiddling with points and I like the no muss , no fuss, of Pete's system. I bought the coil too and installed the set up easily. Now the bike starts very easily and the cutting out problem I had went away.
To me it's all about personal preference. Points are a less expensive set up but require some amount of attention. The Pamco is pretty much set it and forget it. More time for me to ride.

I wasn't shooting at Pamcopete or Mike. I was shooting at the people who design and manufacture old technology (such as ignition coils) and sell it at outrageous prices.
