Hey guys, I have a 77 xs650 that I finished rebuilding and just got it running.
When I bought it, one of the cylinders was seized *I dont remember which side* the po said it was from sitting for 15 years, but who knows.
so anyways, I rebuilt the motor, hooked everything back up, fired her up, and my right side cylinder was blowing white smoke out of the exhaust, I let it run for maybe 30 seconds, turned it off, pulled out the spark plug and steam or exhaust started coming out of the hole, for about 10 seconds.
so, I'm assuming this cylinder is running very hot, (maybe the same problem the po had?? which is why it sat for 15 years)
I took the carb's apart and didn't notice anything out of the norm. I'm gonna give them a rebuild while I have them out though..
what would you guys recommend checking?
thanks in advance

royalprod, need a little more info.Did you do the "rebuild",&why was it siezed? Or did you just get the engine free'd up?Were your piston/cylinder clearance's whitin spec's? Doe's the white smoke have an odor? what is the compression of both cylinder's?Is the fuel clean & fresh?White smoke is usually water, either condensation in the muffler or in the fuel system.Start with compression check, Throtle wide open.Let us know.

yes, I rebuild the motor.
not too sure why it was seized, the previous owner said that it was seized because it sat for 15 years, but who knows.
I replaced both pistons and rings.
the fuel is fresh
I didn't notice an odor, and I did not check compression, I will check compression today and let you know, it should be perfect, as I replaced the piston/rings valves, etc
