I started the teardown and realized that the airboxes were missing. Jumped on Eay and found a complete setup for a '78, mine is a '79. Please tell me that they are the same. I jumped on the airboxes without doing the research first. Also f anybody could show me some pics of how everything is mounted behind the side covers and under the seat. This bike is a patchwork and nothing seems to be where the Haynes manual says its supposed to be.

They appear to have the same part numbers. You can verify my quick look by going to www.yamaha-motor.com/s.../home.aspx and looking up the different years.

Oooohhhh jimmer, you saved my bacon. Could you send me a pic though of how you took care of the fuse block, It looks like you did the same as the previous owner of my bike, only he had put all of the blades on the right side and didn't use a block. just a bunch of inlines, but unprotected.

Add a few pics to my 'Gallery'. Not going to get too much out of my fuses, just wired in some blade fuses and tucked on top of the battery.

If you look just before the end (page 23 and 24) ... all the components are identified left and right side of bike.

hey, thanks for that supplement. the diagrams really help out decifering the rig job that the previous owner did. I'd post some pics of my disassembly, but alas, the camera done died. time to break dowm and buy a new one.
