OK so I love the look of spoke wheels but getting them shiny that's a different story. I am starting on polishing my Heritage wheels and thought you all might get me a clue... What's the best way you have found to polish the spokes and no I won't send it out to a shop. Wife won't do it either. gggGary

Well, strips of towel idea was a loser idea just ended up with about 300 pieces of towel yarn tightly wrapped around every spoke had to knife it off. tore up a chambray work shirt brrrt.... same issue and not strong enough, tore up right away. Now I think I may be on to something I went out and cut about 2' off the end of a light duty nylon ratchet strap. smeared blue magic on it and WOW. Works good ten spokes the strap is not showing wear and they are buffing up good, they weren't rusted but were pretty rough, the chrome or cad had some pitting starting.

Really, you need to replace them. They may shine up now but they'll rust up and corrode even quicker than before. Cad plating isn't that good or thick. It's fine if you keep up on new ones and will last many years - but who ever did that on these bikes. When you polish up old cad plating, you're basically rubbing the rest of it off. Rust and corrosion will soon set in.

Look for a product called Luster Lace. It's canvas strips loaded with polishing compound.

Those Heritage wheels are pretty crap quality-wise, once the chromes shot theres not much you can do apart from a rechrome, rebuild with stainless spokes & they wil last a lifetime .. Cool
