Jayel, you are showing your Americanism. It's common to use periods to separate orders of magnitude and a comma for the decimal point in some countries. And don't even start on the date conventions.

wally;
These bikes were meant to be ridden and enjoyed. Sure, the "wear" items like tires, brake pads,brushes and points will need to be replaced more often. Change the oil every 1600 kms, keep the oil strainers/filters clean and the bike will last forever. As long as you're having fun, that's what counts.

Thanks

any riders hear just store there bikes for special days
I like to ride her all the time

Replacement of small parts I can handle as long as the engine survives as long as it should. What the Average life span of a looked after engine (Many variable I know)
When it was rebuild every thing was replaced, bearing, con rods, pistons, cam chain & the list goes on.

The only on going problem is a small oil leak from the cam covers no matter how many times I change the gaskets & seals using only Yammy parts as well. I have given up on this one.

I also have XSjohns carby needles in it so it gets along better than most.

& don’t start me on the date thing
Of course the days date should be first.

Wally ""the cam seal leak""........can use a bit larger spring from an old seal .....cut the larger spring to the same length and then open the ends so they hook together..............stops the leak........

Sorry john

y description of the leak was not correct
It still has a slight leak from both sides & leaking out underneath so that means it coming from the gasket. More on the right than left

I have now replaced that gasket at least four times the second last using Yammy gasket the last time I replaced with all yammy gaskets & seals.
I will re tighten screws But

I really think now that the first time I rebuilt the engine & got the leak that in my ignorance I may have rounded the matting face & even scored the face & little & for that reason I may never get a seal here.
I’m still only young lessens still to learn

wally;
Yes,if cam housings are leaking from the outside, then oil is getting by the o-ring and gasket.You said you have replaced gaskets, so I assume you also replaced the o-rings. I'd say the o-ring is the key item to stop oil leaking in that location. In order for the o-ring to seal against the casings, the cam bearings must be positioned fully to the inside, to allow enough room for the o-ring.

No no no pleeeeeaaasse no! We will all be good over here promise.
Wally even made a start by spelling kilomter your way (instead of kilometre) We will even start changing all our spelling centre becomes center, tyre becomes tire, 31/12 becomes 12/31 (though when you think about it day, month, year makes more sense. 12/31 is like saying 3/8ths & 1")! Hell, we'll even get rid of our tea pots and install bad filter coffee machines in every home. Anything to keep him off our virgin soil! Because we all know it wont be so virgin once he's been & gone!
