I almost have the bike on the road. I need to change the clutch and drive shaft engine oil seals. Do I need to drain the oil before doing this?

Thanks to all for the help.

Georelle

If you mean the clutch pushrod and countershaft seals, then no you don't need to drain the oil.

pull the left cover, remove the clutch pushrod seal. remaove the sharp edge of the hole, a pocket knife or a grinding stone in a drill. if you don't you will cut up the new seal when you install it. the countershaft seal may be ok, if the sprocket nut is loose, finger tight ,then i would tighten the nut to 75 to 80 ft/lbs or so then ride it and check for leaks. if it still leaks then change the seal. quite often the sprocket nut is very loose.
