Ok my engine case had been sitting open in the garage for 2 days during some rainy (humid) weather while I repaired the sump filter.
Added fresh oil right out of the can after reassembley and the oil in the case now looks foamy with air bubbles.
Did moisture (humid air) get into the case - while open - and if so - will it work out - or do I need to dump the new oil - and replace it????

If the oil is milky looking it has formed an emulsion and will not separate. Air bubbles are different. Regardless I'd change the oil, it's cheap, not as cheap as a few months/days/hours ago, but relatively cheap.

What caused this - the case being open during humid weather?

Possibly. Condensation could have occurred as the temps dipped overnight. And the condensed water could have then run down into the pool of oil. Typically, though, you won't see the "chocolate milk" emulsion unless the motor has been running. It's the whipping action that causes the emulsion. Condensation would have just settled to the bottom.
If you're getting straight air bubbles, it's probably something else, but I wouldn't know what. Better to be on the safe side, anyway, and just dump the oil.
Best,
ichael

a couple quarts of oil is a lot cheaper than a rebuild.

Had the bike apart for 3 days (sump plate open) it was humid here - raining (bike was in the garage).
ust have got either condensation or left over brake cleaner on the sump filter (from cleaning it) - took 3 oil changes to get my oil back from foamy and white (see picture) - to clear with no bubbles!
Broke my heart and wallet - oil in - run drain - oil in run - drain etc.
It looks normal now.
