gas tank only has opening for one petcock

I ordered a gas tank on ebay, it only has an opening for one petcock, my 78 650 special has 2!

also there was only an opening for the petcocke on the left side, no place to put the right side petcock.. wrong year or what?

Also how will a fuel t help me? it looks more like i need to put a new hole in the right side of the gas tank to put the petcock in.

A "T" fitting is a plastic or metal tube fitting shaped like a "T". It allows you to connect 3 hoses together. In your case, the petcock fuel line would run to one leg of the "T" and lines to each carb would run off the other 2.

It appears you got a newer tank. They changed to using only one petcock in 1980. It will work fine.

Models dated 1980 and later only have one petcock on the fuel tank. Your bike might be a '78, but your tank is obviously newer than that. Nothing to worry about -- in fact, you're lucky. One vacuum petcock will only leak half as much fuel as two. Smile
