im haveing a problem with charging when i was cleaning all the electrical connections i found a rubber block with wires comeing out of it. i see where it should be connected but its not and never has been as long as i have had the bike. its behind the battery box and in front of the rear plastic splashield. above the rectofire. it has KOITO 12v writen on it ?

I just took my seat off and the sides and the only thing I can see under there that has KOITO 12v on it is the Reserve Lighting Device. If you can post a picture of the item in question I'm sure you'll get a lot more responses.

That would likely be the "Light Checker". It looks much like the turn signal "Self Cancelling Unit similarly mounted on a metal tang under the frame top rail just behind the steering column. Stock....it works in conjunction with the Reserve Lighting Unit to advise which lights are and are not working. Without the RLU it's pointless. Many of us have eliminated all three and replace the various electronic functions with left and right thumbs on turn signal light switch, high low beam switch, light switch and use of our eyeballs to check which lights do and don;t work.

Radical but not unbearable operating burden.

Personally, I like to remove disconnected units and trace out the unneccessary wires involved. Sure helps when it come to tracking down wiring probelms thereafter.
