Can I put a rectifier/regulator from a 79 xs into my '76 650C? Looking at the wire diagrams it looks possible. I am doing a bobber project and have the bike down to the frame at this time. I will be eliminating the light checker and other electrical not necassary. I do plan on haveing turn signals. I will be rewireing it in a couple months.

thanks for any help.

Great!
Thanks for the reply. A little rewireing will not be a problem at this stage.

Was the regulator/rectifier integrated in 1979? I thought it was later.

I know Mikesxs sells an integrated unit for $100 for the 70-79 models, but sells a different unit for the 1980+ models.

I'd love to be able to buy a 1980+ integrated unit off eBay or from a wreckers to save some money, but I thought there was some incompatibility between the 1980+ models and earlier in this regard.

Tin
I have one coming from ebay that was claimed to have come off a '79. I can't see what the difference would be except for the plug wiring. As far as I know all 650's have the same alternator so the same rectifier and regulator should work on all. I could be wrong though. If there is someone out there who may have more knowledge I would love to hear their input.
