riding up a steep incline i noticed a pressure sound comming from the tank..Is this common, or should there be a vent or something?

It's the spirits expelling themselves from the tank...Sorry I'm watching a horor movie...The vent is in the lid but I can't imagine how you could hear it when it is running.....Unless it truly is spirits.......Hot weather makes them excited........It is hotter than hell outside.......

jeez...mine hisses at standstill...htf can you hear it running uphill? ...lol


Seriously though...if you CANT hear it hiss - then be worried..petrol(gas) expands/froths (whatever) with heat or shaking just like a fizzy(pop) drink
The cap has a breather hole,without it youd create a vacumn as the juice was sucked out!

xs1961 got it right... that's why on a lot of newer bikes (that have not been DE-EPA'd) will run dry after being over filled. The vent typically runs into a charcoal filter canaster.. and if you overfill the tank, it fills the canister, so it can't vent properly.. which creates vacuum.. which runs the carbs dry.

Now aren't you glad we have simple bikes?

it was a pretty strange sound, and I am trying to be aware of all sounds and strange virbrations...I guess I need to treat it like my diesel and treat all wierd noises as good and silence as bad... Smile
