So I am sitting here at 2:30, giving my $40 bike a rattle can paint job, wondering why. It'll look better from 20 feet, but up close still look like poop. Maybe some more sanding, and some more paint, and it may look ok, but the plastics are pretty well shot. Oh well, nothing better to do right now.

I am talking about my sr500. Paint was faded and cracked, now it is just F'd up. I should take the stuff to a pro, but I will call it my rat bike for now. My XS will get its first trip to VIR on the 19th of aug. It's about 300 mile round tripper, so we shall see what happens then.

Try this,,,

Heat the spraycan in warm water before spraying.. Shake well, too.

Use a primer that's the same brand and type (Lacquer or enamel) as the color coat..

Let dry at least 8 hours or more between coats.

When the last color coat is dry, let it sit for another week and then wet sand with 600 grit going higher to 1200 grit.

You can get grits to 12 grand, but 1200 should make things very nice.

These are very basic instructions, but this should get you a nice finish.
