Well while i was replacing the leaky pushrod seal I thought I would change the clutch plates, as te he old one was beginning to slip.
Pretty straightforward, out with the old, i with the new...or so I thought. Buttoned everything up and adjusted the clutch. Problem is the new clutch slips worse than the old. I know the right number of plates are in it and the cable's adjusted correctly. so I must have m
issed something, but what??

Did you soak the plates in oil first? Very important. Major slippage without soakage.

I have always scratched both sides or the steel plates on a rough surface like concrete and it always helped slippage and never hurt anything.

Thanks John. I forgot to mention scuffing the steels. It won't hurt unless they are too thin to begin with. It only helps to get that BITE and then BOOGIE.
