My bike will be a 1978 xs. It will have a street-cafe look. What I mean to say is it will have some cafe features but with a street cruiser low stance. Not sure if I will go somewhat stock or bump displacement. It will feature my secret weapon exhaust system and electronic (boyer) ignition. I will post my first pictures in 2 weeks which would be about the 15th of march.

Here's what I'm starting with:
A 1980 rolling basketcase
I'm chopping the hell out of the frame to make the ultimate xs cafe racer.

A pic of mine is in the photo section, "maybe someday" as you can see I've got along way to go. TTmaniac is right something like this just might be the motivation I need to get er done.

July 4th, huh? Hummm...... Well, here's the bike in it's present state.
As you can see, I've got a bit more to go. What these pictures don't show, though, is the TX750 forks and swingarm that came yesterday. I hope to have it on the road sometime this summer. It's going to be an old-school cafe racer (think 1960-1965 London, sitting in front of the Ace Cafe), 750 cc displacement, XS750 tank and other mods yet to be determined. It might be done by July 4th, then again........ 'Course if somebody'd sell be a nice XS1 front brake I'd be that much closer.

Damn, it's spring break down here on the beach and I'm busy working. Got new neighbors so I welcomed them with 1 1/2 hours of grinding worthless bracketry. No, I'm not mean to all my neigbors, just the ones that have pissed me off in the recent past. My frame is just about prepped but I gotta get a couple of finer grits to smooth it out. I'm gonna run Kenda rubber. Cruiser models front and back. The back doesn't last long but sticks like glue and are cheap for 60 bucks. 3000 miles at best. Mine is gonna be mag wheel disc brakes. I probably won't bother spending cash for front brake line. I gotta have my photo guy make it over soon so I can actually post some pictures of a few items I will be using. I'm stoked to see everyones entries man. STOKED!

OK I'm throwing my hat in the ring. Starting with a 77 Standard ,
building a street tracker, with a total budget of $2000 including the
purchase of the donor bike, sales tax, title fees, I'm keeping track of
every penny. Let the noise commence! I've got about a dozen projects
that I can identify, but the XS goes to the front of the line to try and make
July 4th.

XS1 front brake looks nice, buts not really state of the art
What do you think about that:

Is it just me or are pictures getting bigger by the minute. This thread is getting hard to read. Could we agree on some image size limitations? My vote is 800x600 but my screen resolution is cranked. If anybody else wants the images smaller let's hear about it.

Agreed. I'm having difficulty too. This forum is now over 3 screens wide.

So... not to single you out mikenfl, but could you edit your post and pull the two largest images?
Your project looks great but I think we all agree the two smaller images show everything just fine. Thanks.
