[quote="Srinath"]Point it forward and when you hit a big bump, it will stab the tire.
Cool.
Srinath.[/quote
When the front suspension compresses, the tire will actually be further from the (TOTALLY AWESOME!) highway pegs, due the rake of the forks. That design is ingenious...consider that idea stolen! And I vote for the "V" pointing forward! I'll be watching this build...

thanks danno, glad to have you following. go ahead and steal it, not much other use for them goofy stock bars. plus they are the perfect size for pegs. i will hinge these if needed. need to ride it first.

thanks for all the feedback on the forward controls as well as everything else you all have contributed to this thread.
i am going up tomorrow to try and make progress somewhere, could be on the controls, could be on the rear fender mounts, now that i have my chain. could even be on the headlight mount. wont know till i get there and look at it. any pic requests while im up there?

i didnt get a whole lot done sat. spent most of the time screwing around with forward control/exhaust ideas. never even took the chain out of the box. i mocked the exhaust up somewhat so you can kinda see where im headed with it.
not part of my original idea for the exhaust but i like it. was planning on using the stock headers and going from there. looked like there was gonna be clearance issues with the shifter linkage. moving the pipes to the front will fix that plus it looks cool. that isnt where the exhaust will terminate though, i plan on it going almost to the rear axle. ill have to show you later, so far only exists in my head. the shorties are kinda growing on me though. they would be much cheaper AND easier.
i did find these 1 1/2 combo exhaust bends on www.speedwaymotors.com for $12.99. mild steel, all mandrel bends. sounds like a good deal. anyone know of a better place to get them let me know.
they also have these 3" radius bends for $7.99. same mild steel and mandrel bends.

Dirka, that pipe is pretty good stuff, but it does need to be ceramic coated when your done. Not bad price's on the stuff, either. I've used speedway stuff, & was satisfied with it.

im still being bounced around the northeast for work. >=(
my boss swears up and down i'll get my weekends back early january.
im waiting to see how that goes.
parts are beginning to stack up... on face value (read: bosses change their minds alot) i think ill have some progress shortly. had a buddy inspect my work so far today.
ITS NOT A DEATH TRAP!!! which is very exciting!
second more obvious edit: im curious about the ceramic too?

Dirka, the coating will stop rust. Don't want all that hard work rusting away in a year or two.
