|
I just got a 650 and have a problem with the left plug getting fouled. The PO had 30 pilot jets in the carbs (Mikuni 34s) so I changed them to 25s. The right side seems to be Ok (tan plug color) but the left is still getting black and I have the air screw out over 2 turns already.
Would it be OK to put a 20 pilot jet in the left carb and leave the right with the 25?
Thanks for any help.. I'm a newbie with these bikes.

The stock 34's had a 42.5 pj.

You talking about stock BS34's, 1980 on?
Or you talking VM34's aftermarket round slides?
Or simpler terms, are the tops of the carbs held on with 4 screws (BS 34's) Or does the top screw into the carb body (VM's)
Cheers

Sorry, they are the aftermarket Mikuni VM Roundslides. Not sure about the plugs and compression, will check when I get home.

Well, I'm an idiot...
Turns out I was riding around with the choke on on the left side. Yes, it took me this long to notice that pushing the choke lever down on the left carb did the opposite of pushing the plunger down on the right one.

Cool, thanks for being honest.............Must run a bit better now then?
My bike vibrates the choke off almost as soon as it starts, has tricked me once or twice by staying on!

Yeah, took it for spin and it ran well. Haven't dialed it all the way in yet. Seems to stumble a bit when taking off.
