My buddy, just received an order from xs650direct.com. He ordered 2 of the same Pamco ignition kits, but 2 of them had different coils. Anyone know why this is? Or was it a mistake on their part.... heres a pic

I don't think it makes a difference except that the one on the left already has the leads hooked up. I have used both with a Pamco. Somehow I got the first one, the right one , somehow managed to short it. I bought the other one next but both worked ok. They are exactly the same price on the xs650direct site. You know how to mount them yes?

I think they ran out out of the one coil and are just replacing with other one,I believe the only difference is a an ohm or to which shouldn't be a problem.

The one on the right is an original replacement. The one on the left put out a bit more omph and will need a plate made up as the mounting holes are wider than the bracket on the bike

650skull,

Both the coils have the same mounting centers. The coil on the right (17-6803) produces a higher voltage, but the coil on the left (17-6822) has a longer spark duration.

I used Pete's method.

Pamcopete, I am wrong and right..............when i did the single points dual lobe conversion , the coil i bought, (the 176822), has the mounting bolts at 102mm center to center, the 80SG is a points model and the brackets on my bike are 56mm center to center. I wasn't taking into account the TCI ignition models
