Was wondering: you all who are running mid controls on a hardtailed bike - do the pegs you are using "fold"?
or are you running some kind of hard mounted peg that just bolts to a bracket or whatever, and doesn't fold up or back?

I'm going through all this b.s. in my head thinking these pegs gotta fold, like on a stock bike...but really, why do they have to fold? be much nicer and neater if they didn't fold , due to cleaner simpler mounting system.

just wondering if anyone has any particular thoughts on that.

thx!

folding pegs are your friend if you lean the bike over in the turns too far, which isn't hard on a low bike.

a sold mount peg works well to cause you to spin out if it catches right

kind of like whe you leave the side stand down and go into a left turn

yeah I really would prefer to have ones that fold...
Gotta figure out a way...
Trying to get it so the peg goes in those indented areas on engine cases right where the stock pegs would go.

we run solid mount pegs on all our bikes and I run them on mine with my mids. Never had any trouble with them and I ride the bike pretty hard. If I am over that far for them to touch I am in trouble anyway.

Good info and emzdogz it should be easy to get some universal folding pegs and make them work

Right now I'm trying to position my mids as close as possible to where the stock pegs would go and for that it seems like they are gonna have to fold. So I can fold it up to use the kicker. Am trying something using a highway peg extension bar from an old Sporty I had, and using some male mount Sporty passenger pegs. Welded the extension bar to a piece of flat stock and will either weld or weld and bolt the thing to the top of a piece of box section that was added to my frame when I had it hardtailed. The pieces of box section connect the low frame rails to the cross piece that the main back downtube sits on.
This is my 2nd method I'm trying. They're gonna be high enough up that I don't think the bike jack-knifing off a rigid peg would really happen unless I was wiping out. But!!!!!! a rigid peg in that position on the right side would definitely be right in the path of the arc of the kicker pedal.

Will post pics once I get it figured out.
Smile thc for chiming in - all of you.

Blackwidow, you're not related to Blackwidow choppers are you? they hardtailed and raked my frame, and in my opinion did a real good job.
