Dad turned 80 years old this year, and decided to quit riding on the open road. I have maintained his Sportster 1200 Custom since he bought it new in 2000,and as a reward,he gave me the bike. It has just under 20,000 miles on it,but it still runs great, and (I think) it still looks good. Dad will still tool around town on a 1980 Honda Twinstar that I bought on craigslist. Sure hope he can handle 200 cubic centimeters of sheer fury. The Twinstar should do 0-60 in just 3 tries.

Learned to ride on my dads bike in the 50's....a 250 thing he brought back from Japan when we lived there after ww2....He was airforce and went away a lot to fight the bastards ...found his key and rode the thing around the house so many time there was a huge berm all the way around the house........I was hooked and also got my ass beat when he got home...... Hi Danno,

Treasure that bike, and treasure your Father more! My Pop is 90, and although he never gave me a bike, he gave me my love of two wheels, and forced me to learn how to work on them--very valuable!

Beautiful bike, by the way-----considering it isn't a vertical twin...... Laughing
