I just finished chopping my 81 xs650. The pipes were cut down short because the guy before me did a shitty welding job with the extensions. Now after I hardtailed the bike, when I took it for a test drive, i had to leave the bike choke half way out or it would stall. but it was a colder night so i figured that was no big deal.
however, when i really throttled it like from 2nd to 3rd, all of the sudden it would rev really really high and sort of get stuck like that for a few seconds. is this a problem with the short pipes, or can i just adjust the carbs somehow to fix the problem. it has the stock carbs on there. didnt have this problem before i chopped it.
thank you.
