That is indeed THE question Pumps......and one which when completely answered will explain the prices listed... for indeed they are not BMW made nor of anything close to comparable quality. Usually Russian/Chinese made knock offs which abound......caveat emptor.

Anything BMW and Steib (bike and sidecar originals) in decent shape would be well north of $10,000. Blue

From what I have heard the Chinese (Jiang?) copies are troublesome and should be avoided like the plague.

I have heard good things about the Russian ( Ural ) ones, The last few model years get pretty good reviews.

$2400 for two bikes? Thats pretty cheap. I wonder if you could fit an early BMW air-head motor in that frame?

I would've rode them into the ground and chucked em for that price lol. I have heard good things about the Urals too, a buddy of mine had one quite a few years back, I hear they are/used to be made from the same machinery as BMW stolen during WW2. They are nonetheless very sexy.

Interesting. Guy needs to learn how to use the brakes apparently.

A guy selling them.

You ever notice how those Chinese bike sellers always say Honda clone , honda parts fit etc or whatever but when you need parts they are unobtainium?Somehow I don't think these will be up to the standards of the fatherland.

I saw a Chang Jiang for sale here in NC not too long ago. If had been cheap I would have picked it up just to play around with it. They top out around 55mph, and a lot of these guys love playing Nazi dress up with them. I just dig old mechanicals in general.

I got a chance to ride my brother's Ural military 2wd rig. It was not as fun as I imagined it might be, and slightly twitchy at speed. The quality seems to be decent though. However, the Ural gearbox made the XS gearbox seem smooth.

The nostalgia factor is quite high.... but I'll stick to my XS.
