Have a 75 xs that has the pamco ignition. Bike starts on second or third kick every time. bike idles like a champ, but after about 20-30 seconds it just shuts off like you turned the key off. Left plug is gas fouled probably from not burning the fuel as it shuts down. Any suggestions? Could a dead/low battery cause this? Coil? The bike just started this and I am stumped as to why. Please help! I want to ride! Thanks in advance.

Tell us a little more information about the bike. With the Pamco ignition, did you buy a new coil as well? Are the plug leads and resistor plug caps new or old?

Battery voltage is very important. What is the battery voltage before you start the engine? What is the battery voltage during that 30 second run before it quits?

All of the ignition is recently new. Battery voltage not running is about 7.5 volts. Sounds low to me. Haven't had enough time to check while running. Could the battery cause this?

Yes, I think the Pamco can run at limited volts, but 7.5 will stretch any system. Either charge your battery, or get a new one. Could solve all your problems.

If the battery is in any way looking old, or if you don't know how old it is, it's probably time to get a new one! Apparantly MikesXS AGM batteries are very good & priced well!
